Breast Reduction

Breasts that are too large for the frame may have been caused by a variety of factors or just by one. Large breasts may be an inherited problem causing difficulties from a very early age. They may have grown during pregnancy and not returned to their original size. Perhaps weight has been gained overall and the breasts have not responded to dieting. age is also of concern as the supportive breast ligaments have a tendancy to stretch over time causing the breasts to droop.

Like breasts requiring uplift many overly large breasts will also require lifting to a higher place. In addition to the operation having excellent cosmetic results it may also help to alleviate a number of physical and practical problems caused by excessive weight. Very large breasts can restrict your activities and cause you physical discomfort.

Back and neck pains are often associated with large breasts, skin irritation from restrictive clothing, deep painful bra indentations and breathing problems may occur.

Additionally, unusually large breasts can make a woman or teenage girl feel extremely self-conscious. It is not surprising that some 40% of patients quote the desire to eliminate back, neck and shoulder pain* as the primary reason for having this surgery. *Source ASPS Survey October 2002.

The operation to reduce the breasts is similar to that undertaken for the Uplift in that excess skin is removed and invariably the breasts will be elevanted. Additionally your Surgeon will remove fat and tissue to leave your breasts both smaller and lighter as our photographs show. The best candidates are those who are mature enough to fully understand the procedure and who have realistic expectations about the results. Breast reduction is not recommended for women who wish to breast feed.
